LONGEVITY and quality
Quality is a central part of Tranemo's work with sustainable product development. Through systematic and proactive quality and environmental work, we ensure that our products maintain a high standard over time. Already in the development phase, we take into account the environmental and climate impact throughout the product's life cycle – with the aim of maximising service life, function and long-term value.
Quality
Quality and quality work are an important part of conducting sustainable product development at Tranemo. As part of our quality and environmental work, we are certified for both ISO 9001 (quality management system) and ISO 14001 (environmental management system).
QUALITY CONTROL
We place great emphasis on ensuring the quality of our products. Quality control covers all stages and materials in the manufacturing chain, from product development to finished product. This is so that you as a customer always receive a product that lasts a long time and meets all the tough demands placed on your workwear. Before the finished product is approved and can be sold on the market, it undergoes the following tests:
- Before production starts, we specify and approve all materials included in the product.
- All fabrics and reflective tapes are tested in our laboratory. Their various properties are tested depending on how the fabric is to be used and what function it is to fulfil. Important parameters can be shrinkage, strength, colour fastness, pilling and flammability.
- Certification of products and fabrics takes place after extensive testing at external accredited laboratories.
- Quality control also includes incoming inspection of finished garments.
WearER tRIALS
In cooperation with major customers, Tranemo carries out wearer trials to ensure that all required functions are present on the garment and that it works in practice. Lack of comfort and ergonomics is often the reason why the wrong type of protective clothing is used or, even worse, no protective clothing is worn at all.
Textile service – Laundries
In most cases, Tranemo recommends industrial laundering to ensure that flame-retardant garments are clean and safe to wear. Due to varying washing processes at different industrial laundries, it is recommended that each specific garment type is test-washed before being put into use. Tranemo carries out fabric tests after 50 industrial washes in accordance with EN ISO 15797: EN ISO 11612 A1 Limited flame spread, EN ISO 20471 High visibility and EN 1149-3 Antistatic. Since EN ISO 15797 is always carried out on new, clean fabrics where no dirt is present, Tranemo supplements the tests with real wear tests of protective clothing combined with washing at industrial laundry partners to obtain the most reliable results. After wear tests and washing, the garments are checked to ensure that they still achieve the same high performance. To ensure high quality of fabrics and reflective tapes, Tranemo also carries out internal wash tests before each production. All this is to achieve the best results and safety.
QUALITY POLICY
We want to create a more competitive company with positive development and sustainable profitability. Our quality policy forms the basis of our quality work.
SATISFIED CUSTOMERS
Tranemo must in a responsible way meet customers' requirements and expectations. Our ambition is also to be the market's best supplier in selected areas, where our products and services exceed the customer's expectations and are better than competitors' alternatives. We will work for positive cooperation with our customers, so that every assignment becomes a good reference for further business.
FOCUS ON OUR PROCESSES
Tranemo must have clear process ownership and well-developed control procedures which, where possible, are guided by well-defined and measurable quality objectives. All our activities shall be carried out in accordance with good business ethics and be so efficient that they provide us and the customer with the best overall economy.
CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT
Our processes shall be under continuous development and improvement and our quality objectives shall be regularly followed up and revised. By being responsive and cooperating with our customers, both resellers and professional users, we will continuously develop our products and services to become more competitive in the market.
QUALITY – A PART OF OUR EVERYDAY LIFE
At Tranemo, quality is everyone's responsibility and a natural part of our daily work. This means that the philosophy "Right from me" is self-evident and that all employees take quality responsibility for their part of the operations.
In-house laboratory
Our own test laboratory plays a central role in product development, where we carefully test materials and key properties to ensure that we continue to deliver products of the highest quality. For more extensive tests, we also cooperate with certified external laboratories.
long service life
At Tranemo, we take environmental and climate impact into account at every stage of the product's life cycle, already from the product development phase. Research from the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) shows that the most effective way to reduce the environmental impact of clothing is to extend the life of garments. If we double a garment's active service life, its carbon footprint is reduced by 49%. This also means less waste and lower resource consumption.
Manufacturing protective clothing while improving durability is a demanding process. Tranemo's goal is to ensure that users receive the most environmentally friendly products that at the same time provide the right level of protection.
By identifying the customer's needs from the outset, Tranemo begins with a risk assessment to analyse the environment in which the protective clothing will be used, the hazards it may be exposed to and other important variables. This risk assessment forms the basis that Tranemo then uses to make well-founded decisions on the level of protection and sustainability factors.
Tranemo manufactures garments that are designed to last as long as possible, thanks to smart design, material selection and adaptation for industrial laundering.
But it is also important to know how to care for the garment and ensure that it is handled correctly. Tranemo has one of the industry's most experienced and competent teams, who are always ready to help customers get the most out of every single detail. This alone can contribute significantly to sustainability.
Another important sustainability factor is that protective clothing from Tranemo is easy to repair. When necessary, Tranemo can provide a suitable repair kit and instructions to enable correct repair of the protective clothing. This means that the customer gets a garment that lasts longer, has a lower total cost of ownership and has minimal impact on the environment.
In addition to taking proactive measures to maximise the service life of products, Tranemo strives to prevent and reduce environmental impact through other climate actions established in the company's environmental strategy. Our environmental work includes various projects aimed at reducing energy use and environmental impact during transport, as well as improving production processes so that we use fewer chemicals and natural resources.
We have always strived to manufacture protective clothing with a longer service life, and this approach is deeply rooted in our DNA
- Max Larsson, CEO
Care & Repair
We design garments that are easy to repair. In this way, the customer gets a garment with a longer service life, which reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) and minimises the environmental footprint.
Since 1934, we have been producing protective clothing to make it as durable as possible. But sometimes, with frequent use of workwear, a zip can break or a button can come off. To further extend the life of the garment, we therefore offer a repair kit that also contains instructions on how to mend our protective clothing.

Recycling
To reduce our environmental impact, we work actively to find ways to reuse scrap material from our production and to increase the use of recycled fibres in our garments.
Pre-consumer waste
By recycling pre-consumer waste – that is, surplus and offcuts that arise during production – we create new opportunities to extend the life cycle of textiles. Together with our main fabric supplier, we have initiated a project to recycle waste from fabric production. The goal is to reduce both the use of virgin material and the total amount of waste generated in production. According to calculations, recycling weaving waste can reduce our production waste by up to 29,400 kg per year.
Recycling pre-consumer waste is an advanced process that starts already at the weaving stage. Waste from our garment production is collected and sent back to the supplier for recycling. The next step in the work is to develop materials with an optimal share of recycled content, without compromising the garment's function and performance.
During 2024–2025 we have recycled 4,943 kg of pre-consumer waste from various suppliers.
Recycled fibres
When assessing a garment's total environmental impact, there are many factors to take into account. We see great potential in using recycled fibres in our products, as long as it does not affect the garment's durability and service life. Research from RISE shows that the most effective way to reduce environmental impact is to extend the garment's period of use. That is why our focus is always on developing protective clothing with a long service life – through well-considered design, careful material selection and optimisation for industrial laundering. At the same time, we are working on several measures to reduce climate impact, where the use of recycled fibres is an important part.
Recycled cotton
Recycling cotton fibres helps to reduce the environmental impact of cotton cultivation, such as the use of chemicals and the strain on soil and water. By using recycled cotton, the need for newly grown cotton and thus the use of resources is reduced. To ensure strength and abrasion resistance in the fabric, a blend of new and recycled cotton is often used.
Recycled polyester
In 2021 we introduced recycled polyester in padded materials for our winter garments without flame protection. These materials contain about 45% recycled fibres, depending on the construction. The recycled polyester is made from post-consumer PET and is certified as recycled.
Towards circular products
Tranemo has a long-term ambition to develop more circular products, even if this currently involves technical challenges. In a circular model, the goal is to minimise waste by designing products and processes that make it possible to prevent, reuse, repair and recycle materials.
Our ambition is to eventually be able to develop garments that can be fully recycled after use. To get there, we continue to work with innovation and the development of new solutions that can make this vision a reality.
