Customer safety
Customer safety is always at the centre. Through our long experience, deep expertise and our wide range of protective clothing, we contribute to a safer and healthier work environment for both users and organisations. Our goal is to give every customer the right conditions to work safely every day.
Risk assessment
We start with a risk assessment and analyse the environment in which the clothes will be used, the demands they will be exposed to and other important variables.Based on this, we can ensure that the customer receives the correct level of protection. We do not believe in multinorm – that one garment would be sufficient for all risks and industries. Instead, we develop unique solutions with high functionality for each risk assessment – without compromising on safety and the environment.
By carrying out a risk assessment and identifying exactly what the garments will be used for, we can avoid manufacturing and treating textiles unnecessarily. In this way, we can reduce our environmental impact by using fewer chemicals, dyes, water, electricity and other resources that may not be needed.
Get help from a guide
Tranemo has several guides for those who need guidance. The guides help you with a risk assessment and ensure that you can make a sustainable purchase of protective clothing that suits you and your industry.
No one should be seriously injured in an accident
We have a simple vision: that no one should be seriously injured in an accident where the right workwear could have prevented the injury or reduced its consequences.
Always wearing the right clothing provides reassurance for the user if an accident occurs. Therefore, the fit, ergonomic design and comfort of protective clothing are of crucial importance. Workwear that is uncomfortable or has poor ergonomic design can lead to the wrong type of protective clothing being used. This can also have negative consequences from both a safety and environmental perspective.
For that reason, our starting point for sustainable development is to ensure that customers receive the most environmentally friendly product and the correct level of protection. All our collections are sustainably designed as systems for specific industries and the risks associated with them.
KNOWLEDGE and GUIDANCE
Preventing accidents requires knowledge and understanding of the risks in the workplace, but also certifications and standards that are required for optimal protection and comfort. Tranemo has extensive expertise in protective clothing and has therefore compiled everything you need to know about safety under guides – your guidance towards safety in high-risk environments.
WearER TRIALS of protective clothing
In cooperation with larger customers, Tranemo carries out extensive user wearer trials to ensure that all necessary features are present on the garments and that they offer comfort and performance in real work situations.
We work with customers to test our protective clothing in the environments they are designed for. In addition, the garments are also tested by our own staff. Fit and comfort can be subjective and can differ from person to person. Therefore, we always carry out user tests with several test subjects. Functional and comfortable clothing is crucial, as it ensures that protective clothing is used consistently and thus provides protection in accordance with the risk assessment.
When we test new garments, we make sure that they are:
Safe – provide the right protection
Durable – have a long service life
Designed with the right fit – for comfort and freedom of movement
Functional and equipped with the necessary features – for a productive working day
All garments are tested in real work situations, which means that certification is crucial even during the test phase. We ensure that our garments always meet current requirements and standards.
User tests are a natural part of the product development process and one of the final steps before production starts. However, this step is very important, and we welcome all feedback from our test users so that we can make adjustments to our designs if necessary. A user test can last from one month up to one year.
The design process
The development process begins in the design phase, often in close collaboration with our customers. With our extensive experience in designing workwear, we understand how important it is to ensure that the garments function optimally under specific conditions.
During the development of new products, many factors need to be considered. One question we often discuss is the fit – should the garment have a regular fit or a looser fit? What is best suited for the specific work environment? Garments for the electrical and power industry are often designed with a regular fit and stretch panels to facilitate movement when climbing, while garments for the metallurgy industry require a looser fit to create air gaps between the layers, which provides extra protection against intense radiant heat.
Ergonomics
Another feature that was developed and refined through user tests is the ergonomic jacket design for electricians. Since electricians often climb and work with their arms raised above their heads, we needed to ensure that the sleeves always cover the arms and that the jacket does not ride up when the hands are raised. This is to ensure that the garments always overlap and provide the user with protection in all work tasks.
Features
Other details tested in wear tests are the pockets, which must always meet the user’s requirements while also complying with the limitations of EU standards. For example, garments for the metallurgy industry are equipped with fewer pockets and details, which makes it easier for molten metal to run off without getting caught in folds or pocket openings. The situation is almost the same in the chemical industry, where open pockets that can collect splashes of chemicals are not permitted. In addition, for chemical garments we must also ensure that chemicals do not penetrate seams or reflective tape.
Durability
Many work environments are tough and demanding and require protective clothing that is both visible and hard-wearing. Welding, cutting and grinding are tasks that expose garments to intense sparks that can damage the fabric. By conducting wear tests, we can identify exactly where the workwear needs extra reinforcement, enabling us to develop garments with a longer service life.
Fewer chemicals
Minimising environmentally harmful chemicals has led us to phase out PFAS where possible. Together with our customers, we have conducted extensive tests showing that a PFAS-free surface treatment often provides sufficient protection.
HOW IS THE customer INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS?
Our customers often appreciate the opportunity to be involved in the design process. By being active in the development phase, the customer can influence the garments’ function, comfort, durability and sometimes even the price. This ensures that the garments meet the risk assessment as well as the user’s expectations.
The safest protective garment is the one that is always worn. Through wear tests, we ensure that our workwear offers optimal protection as well as high comfort and functionality.
