TRANEMO SKINSAFE™ - ELECTRIC ARC
Tranemo Skinsafe™ is a multi-layer system designed to protect the user's skin from flame, heat and electric arc flash accidents. With the individual at the centre and demanding work situations in mind, Tranemo has developed an effective combination of protective layers, from the skin outwards. Using several thinner layers instead of one thick layer provides the user with flame protection at a lower weight and with greater freedom of movement. The user can work more efficiently and for longer periods of time.
LAYER-BY-LAYER PROTECTION SYSTEM
A chain is never stronger than its weakest link. That is why we recommend using inherent flame-retardant clothing all the way, from the inside out. This way you avoid the risks of cotton that burns, polyester that melts or metal that transfers electricity and heat to the skin.
Tranemo Skinsafe™ is a multi-layer system designed to protect the user's skin from flame, heat and arc flash hazards.
This is how it is constructed:
Layer 1
Skin protection
In an accident, the wrong choice of underwear can cause the fabric to catch fire and melt onto the skin. It is therefore important to prioritise the innermost layer of protection. Tranemo's flame-retardant underwear has the following advantages: Inherent flame protection, soft and comfortable fabric, antistatic properties and resistance to unpleasant odours.
Layer 2
Insulation
An insulating mid-layer should be used to increase comfort during the colder months of the year. The layer creates an insulating air gap between layers 1 and 3, providing protection against both heat and cold.
Layer 3
SHIELD
The primary function of the outer layer is to provide protection. For protective clothing to be every day, it should also provide an excellent fit, a high level of comfort, good freedom of movement and practical storage for tools.
Gap
AIR GAP
The air gaps formed between the different layers have low electrical and thermal conductivity. These properties provide insulation against cold in winter and additional safety in demanding work situations.

TRANEMO SKINSAFE™ SYSTEM
Approved and tested systems
The Tranemo Skinsafe™ systems shown below have been tested by an independent test institute and represent examples of tested garment combinations. Garments made in the same quality and with the same protection as those shown in the illustrations are also approved - for example women's versions, waist trousers and other equivalent products.
The quality of the garment is presented under the photo with quality number and name. All tests are carried out according to EN 61482-2 on fabric layers and garments, to ensure that both pass the tests and result in an ELIM value and an ATPV/EBT value. Tranemo always recommends that you use two or more layers of protective clothing to keep you warm and safe.
On our product pages, the Tranemo Skinsafe™ symbol shows which garments can be combined in a Skinsafe system.
TWO-LAYER SYSTEM
For demanding indoor work, two layers of Tranemo Skinsafe™ may be sufficient to provide adequate protection. The combined garments are soft and lightweight, providing the wearer with a comfortable solution allowing them to work effectively throughout the working day.
WINTER SYSTEM
The layer-on-layer principle works paticularly well with inherently flame-retardant winter garments. Multiple layers provide warmth and insulation whilse increasing flame protection. The combination creates a system that is light and comfortable but also easy to adapt during physical activity.
ZENITH SYSTEM
Zenith is developed to ensure high visibility in environments where there are also risks associated with high voltage and maintenance work. When Zenith is combined with one or more layers of other flame retardant garments, the system provides a higher level of protection and is suitable for work involving varying levels of activity and temperatures.
CANTEX SYSTEM
The Cantex systems are developed for steelworks and other heavy industries where the user is exposed to high levels of energy and heat, and where protection against heat transfer and arc flash is essential. The inherent flame-retardant properties of Cantex provide effective protection against these risks.
TERA TX SYSTEM
Tera TX is a popular range of flame-retardant garments for the power industry and other demanding outdoor work. When Tera TX is combined with one or more layers of other flame-retardant garments, the system provides a higher level of protection and is suitable for work with varying levels of activity and temperatures.
