WHICH MARKING SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR MY PROTECTIVE CLOTHING?

When protective clothing is to be provided with logos, names or other markings, it is important to consider more than just the appearance. Different types of markings have different characteristics in terms of durability, design and placement.

Embroidery is preferable in terms of durability when compared with transfer prints. However, embroidery does not offer as many placement options. Embroidery cannot be applied to winter garments either, as the stitching would puncture the garment and compromise its waterproof protection.

Another important aspect to consider is that the marking must not affect the garment’s certification. For example, high visibility garments always have a minimum requirement for the amount of fluorescent material. As soon as a marking is placed on such an area, it must be ensured that the remaining fluorescent area still meets the requirements for the garment’s classification. To avoid reducing the fluorescent area, a logo should be placed on a non-fluorescent area or be kept relatively small.

Tranemo recommends completely avoiding logo markings on the fluorescent areas of trousers. The same recommendation applies to upper-body garments certified according to EN ISO 20471 that have a relatively small fluorescent area (e.g. short-sleeved garments, women’s garments or garments with a large proportion of non-fluorescent fabric). If in doubt, contact Tranemo for assistance in calculating the high visibility area of an individual garment and determining any applicable limitations.

Transfer prints must be tested and approved before they can be used on flame retardant garments. The transfer prints produced by Tranemo are tested and approved according to EN ISO 14116 Index 3 and EN 1149-5 when applied to a flame-resistant garment from Tranemo.

A transfer print retains heat for a longer period than the fabric when exposed to high temperatures. From a safety perspective, large, full-coverage transfer prints should therefore be avoided. Ideally, transfer prints should be positioned over areas with several underlying layers of fabric, helping to provide additional protection for the skin.

PLACEMENT OF TRANSFER PRINTS, EMBLEMS AND DIRECT EMBROIDERY

Placement options vary depending on the type of marking. We have compiled a PDF guide showing the different placement options, which you can download here.

HEAT SEAL BADGES

We have our own in-house screen-printing facility to quickly deliver your Tranemo workwear with a personal look.

Ordering heat seal badges

When ordering a heat seal badge, the cost is divided into two parts; the cost of producing the heat seal badge and the cost of applying the badge to the garment. The heat seal badges are charged at the time of the first order and the price varies with the number of heat seal badges ordered, size in cm² and number of colours.

  • Minimum order quantity: 25 pcs.
  • 13 standard colours to choose from, but we can also produce badges with a specific PMS colour.
  • Delivery time for heat seal badges is estimated at 10–15 working days.

Artwork preparation

To achieve high quality on the heat seal badge, the original artwork must be supplied as a vectorized file with text outlines in eps, ai, pdf or svg file format. If the original is supplied in another file format or is not vectorized, an additional cost is charged for producing new artwork.

InduTrans

An all-round transfer that works on most materials. It has 99% coverage on dark garments and withstands washing at 60 degrees and tumble drying at low temperatures (the garment is washed and dried inside out). InduTrans meets the requirements of EN ISO 14116 and EN 1149-5 when applied to most of Tranemo's flame-retardant fabrics.

Mounting instructions

InduTrans is applied with a heat press for 10–15 seconds at 160°C. The printing surface should be smooth and without seams. For flame-retardant garments, the best placement is where there are several underlying layers of fabric that protect against the extra heat that a heat seal badge can store. Water-repellent garments can advantageously be preheated to obtain a better bonding surface.

Name print

We label your workwear with personal names for extra personality and easier handling in laundry service.

asset_image

We offer two different name sizes; small (approx. 7 mm high capital letters) and big (approx. 11 mm high capital letters). The total length of the name may not exceed 10 cm. If the name is longer, the size of the text is reduced proportionally to 10 cm. Name prints can be produced in all our standard colours.

We can also offer a name print with text in two lines, if, for example, you want to add a department name or similar.

When ordering name transfers, it is important to state clearly how the names should be written, for example ONLY IN CAPITAL LETTERS, Capital letter at the beginning of the name or perhaps the surname abbreviated with a full stop.

DIRECT EMBROIDERY

We have in-house embroidery machines to quickly deliver your Tranemo workwear with a personal look and high quality. Of course, we always use flame-retardant thread to embroider all our protective clothing.

Ordering direct embroidery

When ordering direct embroidery, the cost is divided into two parts; the cost of developing the embroidery program and the cost of embroidering the garment. The cost of the embroidery program is charged at the time of the first order and is a one-off cost. The price for embroidery is based on the order volume and the size of the embroidery in cm².

  • Minimum order quantity: 1 pc.
  • 34 thread colours to choose from.
  • Delivery time for embroidery is estimated at 10–15 working days.

Creation of embroidery program

To achieve high quality on the embroidery, the original artwork must be supplied as a vectorized file with text outlines in eps, ai, pdf or svg file format. If the original is supplied in another file format or is not vectorized, an additional cost is charged for producing new artwork. In order to create the embroidery program, information is also required about the size of the embroidery on the finished garment as well as the thread colour/colours.

Flame-retardant thread

We use only flame-retardant thread from Madeira (Polyneon FR) certified according to EN ISO 11611, EN ISO 14116, EN ISO 4102 part1 B1, Oeko-tex Class 1. The thread meets the requirements of EN ISO 14116 and EN 1149-5 when applied to most of Tranemo's flame-retardant fabrics.

EMBROIDERED BADGES

We have embroidery machines and laser cutters to quickly deliver both name badges and logo badges, with or without hook-and-loop tape on the back for your Tranemo workwear.

Ordering Emblems with Logos

When ordering an embroidered emblem with a logo, the cost is divided into two parts: the cost of creating the embroidery program and the cost of manufacturing the emblem. The embroidery program is charged with the first order and is a one-time cost. The price of the emblem varies depending on the quantity ordered and the size in cm².

  • Maximum size without Velcro: 12 × 10 cm
  • Maximum size with Velcro (hook/hard side): 12 × 3 cm
  • Minimum order quantity: 25 pieces
  • Choose between navy blue, yellow or white background fabric.
  • 34 thread colours to choose from (see the colours above under the heading “Direct Embroidery”).
  • Estimated delivery time for emblems: 10–15 working days.

Making the embroidery program

To achieve a high-quality embroidery result, the original artwork should be supplied as a vectorised file with text converted to outlines, in EPS, AI, PDF or SVG format. If the artwork is supplied in another file format or is not vectorised, an additional charge will apply for creating new artwork. To create the embroidery program, we also require information about the emblem size and the thread colour(s).

Flame retardant thread

We only use flame-retardant thread from Madeira (Polyneon FR), certified according to EN ISO 11611, EN ISO 14116, EN ISO 4102 Part 1 B1 and OEKO-TEX® Class 1. The thread meets the requirements of EN ISO 14116 and EN 1149-5 when applied to most of Tranemo’s flame retardant fabrics.

For the name, the standard font Arial is used, which we also use for our name prints (see image above).
